Abu Dhabi gears up to host World Pro Jiu-Jitsu
abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is set to return and bring a smashing finish to the 2015/2016 season, in its landmark eighth edition.
Fan favourites and new challengers from across the world will descend in Abu Dhabi from April 15-23 with a newly added awards ceremony, introduced by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, taking place on April 24 exclusively for competition winners and invitees.
Organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the championship will deliver 10 days of unmatched action at the IPIC Arena in Zayed Sports City, a venue which will once again play host to thousands of the world’s best participants from more than 100 countries.
New to this year and kickstarting proceedings for the Championship is the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival, an event open exclusively to UAE National Children which will run two days from April 15-16, where the participants can register on the opening day without prior-registration.
Abdulmunen Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation said: “Since its introduction to the UAE in 2009, the championship and the sport of Jiu-Jitsu have had a lasting impact in Abu Dhabi and the wider global community, an accomplishment of which we are very proud.”
