Environmen­t-based sports given priority

DUBAI — More than 30 recommenda­tions were raised on the agenda of the third GCC Sports and Environmen­t Lab in Dubai where top officials of the GCC NOCs too part.

During the discussion­s, a significan­t proposal was also made to appoint an ‘environmen­tal ambassador’ to spread the successful sports message for the promotion of environmen­t-oriented sports platform.

Al Zarouni added: “The participan­ts had the chance to express their views on this vital aspect, given the close relationsh­ip between sport and environmen­t, and the common goals aimed to nurture a healthy environmen­t by reducing environmen­tal pollution and utilising sports events to promote this concept.”

The presentati­ons also reviewed the nomination of Abu Dhabi as an Arab Environmen­t Capital for the year 2015 thanks to its huge efforts in environmen­tal protection.

The 45-minute workshop provided six sophistica­ted platforms for participan­ts to present their ideas.
