ORDER AN ARABIC MEAL

-

If planned Arabic meals delivered to your doorstep are your thing, ‘What’s Cooking by Chef Yasser’ has an option for you.

For Dh1,260 you can order 30 meal boxes (over three months), and for Dh2400, 60 meal boxes (over four months). Chef Yasser has a pre-planned menu, so you get to know what’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, even a week in advance. All customers who register online (whatscooking.com; call 800 927737) to order a delivery get a 50 per cent discount on their food.

There is a calendar with pre-organised meals at the beginning of every month for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you can instantly know what’s on the delivery menu that day or night.

There are, of course, plenty of fantastic Arabic and Lebanese places in Dubai. But if we have to (unfairly) pick just two other places that deliver consistently excellent Arabic-Lebanese meals (and at mostly all hours) Shami Gourmet in Dubai Marina would have to be one ( at Torch Tower, 04 2753059; open from 7am-3am). They do an excellent Shami Mixed Grill (Dh75), a generous serving of Shish Fish (Dh19) — all of which comes with fries. Also try their broasted chicken. Their garlic dip is addictive. Zaatar w Zeit (call 600522231) is the other place with outlets all over that serves consistently great, filling food that’s even quite healthy if you allow it to be (easy on those fatty cheese dressings). You can’t go wrong with their manakeesh (try either the Beef Ham and Cheese at Dh25 or if you’re watching the calories, Zaatar and Labneh for Dh15). We love their multi cereal dough, and their Halloumi Salad (Dh36).
