Malayalam actor Jishnu dies of cancer
trivandrum — An amazing battle against cancer by young Malayalam actor Jishnu Raghavan came to a tragic end on Friday.
The 35-year-old actor, who had fought the deadly disease in a glorious style two years ago, succumbed to cancer after it relapsed recently. The end came at Amrita Inastitute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) at Cochin at 8.15am.
The untimely death has saddened the industry and his fans because he tried to inspire people battling with the disease with his positive thoughts through regular posts in the social networking sites.
In an inspiring post on Facebook on March 8, the ailing actor revealed that he was in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he was having fun with many around him who cheer him up with bright smiles. He called the ICU his second home.
“I see God and feel his love through so many people around me. I’m amazed at what is happening around me,” he said in another post. Jishnu surprised his fans by posting even a photo showing him hooked on to a life-support system.
The actor, who showed a neversay-die attitude to life, had kept himself abreast of all happenings in the in the world around him and regularly commenting on them even while he was in the hospital bed. Jishnu, who passed B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. Though the doctors treating Jishnu declared him completely cured, another malignant tumour appeared in his body in April 2015 claiming his life.
The death came at a time when Jishnu was preparing for a come back to the cinema after a break he took for developing information technology in the rural areas. Son of veteran actor Raghavan, Jishnu took a plunge into cinema as a child artist in the film which was released in 1987.
But it was in 2002 that Jishnu made his acting debut as a male lead with Nammal in 2002, which was a major hit.
