ajman — The Emirates Golf Federation’s new golf club, Al Zorah Golf Club (AZGC), launched the National Junior Development Programme (NJDP) in Ajman. In partnership with the EGF the Al Zorah Golf Club will look for new and young talent to develop the future of Emirati golf.

Martin Dewhurst, PGA Professional and leading the charge for the NJDP at Al Zorah had this to say about the newly adapted programme. “Our goal is to try and attract as many Emiratis from Ajman, Sharjah and Um Al Quwain as possible to experience golf at the AZGC. We are looking forward to starting the process of the NJDP. We look to develop the juniors making them the best players that they can be, whilst having players from our region representing the UAE internationally.”

Starting last weekend and running every Friday and Saturday at Al Zorah Golf Club, Martin had 29 players in attendance all of which were experiencing golf for the first time.

“We would like to really develop our Junior Programme in association with the EGF with our aim being to have over 80 children enrolled by 2017,” said Martin.

“We will keep the lessons fun and informative making sure that all of our juniors have a solid set of fundamentals which a good golf swing derives from. We will also incorporate interactive drills and diverse exercises to help increase coordination, speed and power.

With two months left in the 20152016 UAE golf season the EGF is encouraging all locals to get involved with this National Junior Development Programme and golf.
