‘Making people happy is priority’
Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) on Tuesday organised a symposium called “Making People Happy”, according to Arabic newspaper Emarat Al Youm.
Dr Ahmad Abdulla Al Nuseirat, Coordinator General, DGEP, said that happiness is the purpose to be achieved if the resources, potentials and efforts were used to serve the people for their welfare.
The paper quoted Al Nuseirat as saying that happiness of the country’s people is on top of the priority list of the programme since it was launched in the year 2000.
Another speaker at the forum, Major- General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners AffairsDubai, said that Shaikh Mohammed has always confirmed that happiness in our country is not a wish but it is rather translated into plans, projects, programmes, indicators and part of lifestyle.
He said the Dubai government works on inculcating and cementing happiness as lifestyle and this is what makes the country popular around the world. Al Marri said that the UAE has provided all means, potential and resources to make its people — be it Emiratis, tourists, visitors or residents — happy by raising the standard of life and at the same time providing them security, stability and safety.
Abdullah Hasan Al-Khayyat, Director-General of the Total Quality department at the Dubai Police, also made some thoughtprovoking points at the forum.
He said: A person is the nucleus of a family and family is the base of a society. Happiness of the individual reflects directly on the society. Therefore, transformation of society into happy society begins from making employees happy who will in turn make people around him happy, colleagues and customer.”
Happiness has now become the demand of the Dubai government.
