SHARE YOUR JOY

-

Eighteen years ago he saved her life and a few days back he attended her graduation. Retired police detective Peter Getz and Vernon resident Josi Aponte share a special bond. In 1998, Getz almost gave Josi a new lease of life when he arrived at a burning apartment building in Hartford, Connecticut, and a firefighter handed him a 5-year-old girl who was unresponsive and covered in ash, Aponte told the Hartford Courant.

Without wasting anytime waiting for the ambulance, Getz placed Aponte in his car and started performing CPR on the unconscious girl, while his colleague drove the car to the hospital.

Getz was told that had he delayed bringing her for a few more seconds, she could have died,” Aponte told NBC Connecticut. Getz followed Aponte’s progress for years, while she was in school but eventually lost touch when she and her family moved away, he reportedly told CNN.

About two years ago, Aponte reconnected with Getz on Facebook. “He saved my life and I’ll always call him my guardian angel.” Last week Getz attended Aponte’s graduation and it was an emotional moment, he said. Happiness is an emotion that can be expressed in a million ways. It is hope, love, motivation, support, care, fun and celebration. It is a state of mind. So send us your happy stories, happy pictures and feedback at so that we can bring to the fore the lesser heard stories of courage, optimism, determination and miracles.

‘Clinch happy moments’

Happiness, I believe, is usually made up of small instances so don’t let them go unnoticed. I’m a working professional in Dubai and my happy moment arrived when I took a vacation back home to Goa. Once back home, I booked a water sports session with my entire family including my parents, who are over 55 years old and no body could think they would be able to do water sports at their age. I really had to motivate my mother to do parasailing. I told her: “Mom, life doesn’t give us such opportunities again, so clinch it.” And as I saw her take to the sky, parasailing, my happiness knew no bounds. Such kind of small gestures, acts and deeds make life happy, memorable and worthwhile.

Good and happy things in life...

Happen by surprise, You can’t jot them down in your weekly planner Or fix an appointment with the eternal power up there They simply sneak into your caught up busy lives Good, happy things Are not limited by selfish stupid questions Like when, why, where and who, They’re simply clouds and sunshine, And butterflies that flutter around, You don’t question any of these You feel their presence Bask in their beauty. And sometimes good and happy things, Don’t grow on fields or are born to special people, They live within the containers of skin and flesh, They are pumped inside the chambers of tissue and muscle, They strive in the souls inside, Because they’re not always around us But in us. “Happiness is... a pleasant surprise for a fan”

Fans love their celebrity superstars more than anything and they are ready to go to any length for them. It can be acting like them, watching their movies in first shows and much more. But it is not very often that any superstar, especially of the stature of Bollywood’s Amitabh Bachchan, takes notice of such fans. And imagine the level of happiness, when such a superstar takes time out from his hectic schedule to acknowledge a fan’s love. It was like this when I had painited a picture of my favourite Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal, and had tweeted it to the BigB (Mr Bachchan,) and to my surprise he replied within few minutes saying “Pretty good… well done” What more can a fan can ask for…
