UAE participates in int’l architecture exhibition
Biennale 2016 is a good opportunity for exchange of ideas: Shaikh Nahyan
venice — Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, assured that the UAE was keen to participate in the International Exhibition of Architecture at the Venice Biennale 2016, with a wing organised by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development continuing the yearly success both in the arts or architecture exhibitions.
Shaikh Nahyan added that the importance of participation in the biennale stems from being the oldest most important exhibitions displaying international contemporary architecture with the participation of a large number of countries around the world and more than half a million visitors. Thus being an opportunity to display our unique experience that dazzled the world and the architectural renaissance taking place in the UAE.
He explained that the UAE wing includes distinct researches representing the archiving of the path of architecture and urban development in the UAE and the challenges faced by the UAE in the field of immunisation and strengthening visions of creative and modern work in architecture during the past century. The minister said that the UAE is the first Gulf country participating in the Venice Biennale of Art in general, thanks to the great interest and support of the leadership of the state, headed by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al

Nahyan, and the efforts of His Highness in promoting the march of the state and confirming its leading position among the nations of the world, and with constant follow up from His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.
The minister pointed out that the Venice Biennale of Architecture is a good opportunity for exchange of ideas between those interested in architecture in the UAE including young people and professionals and around the world, as it is a platform for active cultural exchange for visitors with different nationalities, by introducing to them a better understanding of the art of architecture and the infrastructure of the country to support the architecture and the diverse and booming artistic scene.
Shaikh Nahyan priced the cooperation of local, private and voluntary institutions participating in the wing, stressing that this cooperation will make the UAE wing at the Biennale a model for cultural development reflecting a positive image of the state and the extent of the cultural renaissance reached over the past years.
