Cap, Filipino priest, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai: Although St. Mary’s Catholic Church cannot issue any official statement as we haven’t received any direct communication yet from the Vatican, for me, personally, this is really good news and a welcome development. I personally would like to express my gratitude to the UAE leaders for allowing us (Christians) to freely express and practise our faith here in the UAE. It is also good to note that the highest leaders of the Catholic Church and the UAE government are talking about tolerance, peaceful coexistence, peace and stability in the world.

> J. James, Indian parishioner, St. Mary’s Catholic Church: The visit of our Pope Francis to the UAE is the greatest blessing the parishioners of St. Marys Church can wish for as the year 2017 marks the Golden Jubilee year of church and we hope and pray that Pope Francis will make it to St. Mary’s Church. We pray for his visit to take place in 2017.

> Marlon Nogar, Filipino parishioner, St. Mary’s Catholic Church: For me the visit of Pope Francis in Dubai is a blessing. Truly, there is religious freedom here and it’ a big boost for everyone to further respect each other’s faith and culture. The visit of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Rome also shows the humility of his heart. Also, he is a true statesman to invite the Pope to come to his country.

> Chie Soriano, choir member, St. Mary’s Church: When I heard that Pope Francis is visiting Dubai, my heart felt extreme gladness because I feel it’s about time that we built a strong friendship with our Muslim brothers and sisters. It’s time to start as one, respect each other’s belief, and support each other’s way of living. Through this we can hope for world peace
