Owais Shah named UAE’s coaching consultant
dubai — England’s Test cricketer Owais Shah has been named the team’s coaching consultant on a short-term basis.
Waleed Bukhatir, chief selector and Emirates Cricket Board member said: “Owais worked with the senior men’s players in Hampshire, ahead of their Scotland campaign, and has built a strong understanding of their current playing abilities. We are confident this interim appointment will enable him to continue the work he began, ensuring their programme continues uninterrupted.”
Shah will oversee the team’s training to be conducted at the ICC Academy as well as the twoday game against the West Indies to be played Oct 3 and 4 at the ICC Academy. Shah will be assisted by the current Emirates Cricket support staff during this period. Shah’s appointment will continue through to Oct. 10.
Shah is well-noted as a ‘fluent top-order’ batsman. He made his first-class debut in 1996, and has represented England in all forms of the game earning 94 international caps across all formats. Shah retired from firstclass cricket at the end of the 2013 season.
