Hope of a better quality of life, security, increased mobility, and good education for children are encouraging wealthy people around the world to move to greener pastures and explore options for second citizenship or multiple passports.

At an investment of $200,000 per person and above, you can secure a second passport that allows access to multiple benefits, such as visa-free travel to more than 160 countries. Popularly known as second citizenship or citizenship-by-investment (CBI) programme, these are increasingly becoming popular in the Middle East among ultra high net worth individuals (UHNIs), who have investable assets of $1 million and more.

While most of these CBI programmes require investments in real estate, many countries also allow potential investors to buy government bonds or invest in the country’s development fund to gain residence and economic rights.

The eighth edition of the International Real Estate and Investment Show (IREIS 2016) in Abu Dhabi is bringing along a wonderful opportunity to know many of such programmes in great detail. The exhibition will have a dedicated pavilion hosting a number of real estate consultants, brokers, and investors under one roof to advise aspirants on various citizenship-by-investment programmes. These will include programmes from Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Hungary, Quebec (Canada), Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, the UK, and US EB-5.

Second or alternative citizenship pertinently differs in investment amounts, flexibility in terms of investments, minimum or maximum stay required, processing time for the visa, and other benefits. At IREIS, experienced immigration consultants and dual passport holders will be available to share their experience and assist dual citizenship aspirants. They will be fielding questions and queries with regard to the documentation and application process in different countries.

IREIS will run from October 27 to 29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. More than 125 exhibitors from 25 countries are attending the event.

Serving as a unique platform to showcase the latest investment opportunities in the real estate sector across the Middle East, Europe and the Asia Pacific regions, IREIS 2016 will also provide participants with an important opportunity to track up-to-date market trends.
