dubai — Dubai’s famed Global Village opens its doors to the public today, offering UAE residents and tourists an opportunity to explore “a new world everyday” without ever leaving the confines of Dubai.

The new season of the Global Village — its 21st — will be held over the course of 159 days until April 8, 2017.

“Today is the launch of Global Village’s 21st season, an event that is sure to spread happiness among our anticipated guests. This season we promise them unique and extraordinary experiences that will create perfect memories,” said Ahmad Hussain bin Essa, CEO of Global Village. “Over two decades, the village has managed to become a landmark in the world of entertainment, providing an integrated shopping, food, and cultural experiences to its guests.”

“With an internationally recognised name that has reached all parts of the world, the Global Village is identified as one of the most important attractions in Dubai. Throughout this season we will continue to provide our guests with large scale entertainment shows and events that will enrich their cultural experience, a value which Global Village was built upon,” he added.

The new season includes a rich variety of events, ranging from concerts by international stars to cultural dance shows and international award-winning shows performed by over 50 internationally recruited performers — all of which are included in Global Village’s entry ticket.

Among the celebrities slated to attend is Emirati superstar Abdullah bil Khair, who will be at the Global Village on November 4, as well as Indian singing sensation Sunidhi Chauhan who will take the stage on November 11. Guests will also have a chance to enjoy the performances of ‘Park Life’ and ‘Movies Live’, which use audio-visual stimuli and acrobats to enthral crowds.

For many, the Global Village revolves around shopping for souvenirs from around the world, and this year Global Village will represent 75 countries across 30 pavilions, including a new Algeria pavilion and a Far East pavilion that will represent the Philippines, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia, as well as an East Europe pavilion which will include Serbia, Romania and Ukraine as participants. Additionally, the Jordanian pavilion will be returning from the 19th Global Village season. The shopping experience at Global Village combines many foreign cultures in one place, and gives guests insight into participating countries by exhibiting items that reflect upon their cultures and heritage.

For foodies, the Global Village offers over 150 restaurants, cafes and kiosks, ranging from international street food to dine-in options such as Galito’s, the South African restaurant and the Asian Wok in a Box. The list also includes Reem Al Bawadi, Istanbul Flower Restaurant, Maraheb, Bab Tuma, and others. For its 21st season the Global Village aims to promote an atmosphere of joy and happiness.
