dubai — A manager, accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend of killing her and chopping her head off unless she got back to him and married him, was given a threemonth jail term, followed by deportation.

He earlier pleaded guilty to the charges at the Court of First Instance. The 41-year-old Indian was found guilty of charges including making criminal threats and insult via mobile phone. He confessed to the court that he was wrong in what he did. He admitted he threatened and verbally abused the woman.

The accused told the investigators that he used to give the complainant money before she broke up with him. He blamed the break-up on her jealousy as he worked in realestate field with female colleagues. The complainant, a 26-year-old Russian Belarussian, said that she had known the defendant for three years. She cut it off with him when she noticed he began to drink alcohol a lot and became short-tempered. Around 10pm on July 14, the accused came down her building in Al Barsha and headed to her flat. “He tried to break inside my place in vain. He called me on my phone repeatedly and screamed to open up for him but I did not.

He then sent me several text messages,” she told the prosecutor. Some of the messages read: “If you want to save your life then call me so that your family will not blame me”. “You are a bad woman and you think I can’t kill you; but I will kill you and go to jail”. “I will kill you and your boyfriend and be happy with that. I promise I will chop your head off ”.

A report from the Criminal Evidence General Department showed that text messages taken out from the complainant’s phone were of abusive and threatening content. The ruling may be appealed.
