dubai — A man, who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend unless she continued to do business with him, has been sentenced to three months in jail.

The 23-year-old Indian man on a visit visa, was found guilty of making criminal threats against the Italian woman with whom he used to have a relation as well as business dealings. He earlier denied the charge in the Court of First Instance. However, the court found him guilty and ordered his deportation.

As per prosecution records, the threats were made between February and April. The complainant, a tourist, aged 27, said that the accused made the threats verbally and on WhatsApp.

“He denied her accusations. He claimed he and the woman had been living together. He also claimed she took his mobile phone while he slept and sent the threatening messages by herself after they had a fight. He said he had deleted the messages,” a police sergeant said.

The complainant’s Ethiopian friend, a 34-year-old sales executive, said that she visited her at her place in Tecom. “The defendant was then in the living room. She told me they had a fight. She showed me WhatsApp messages sent by the accused. He threatened to make her parents disappear. I felt scared and I told her to report him to the police,” her friend said.
