British Orchard Nursery bags WIL award

dubai — At the recently concluded 18th Global Women in Leadership (WIL) Economic Forum, which also hosted WIL Achievemen­t Awards presented by the Ministry of Economy, the UAE’s largest pre-school chain, British Orchard Nursery, was honoured with the Most Women Friendly Employer of the Year Award in the SME category.

The chain received the award for encouragin­g its women workforce to develop skills though training and leadership programs, mentorship and their outstandin­g contributi­on towards the cause of women empowermen­t. This is the second time they are honoured with this coveted award, the last time it was in 2014.

Mohammed Alshehhi, Undersecre­tary of the UAE Ministry of Economy, presented the coveted award to Ms Vandana Gandhi, CEO and Founder of the British Orchard Nursery chain, for her exemplary contributi­on.

“British Orchard Nursery is proud to represent the UAE at the global awards and win this honour for the second time amongst the impressive list of regional and global companies and nominees. UAE’s leadership has an aim to raise the country’s ranking to one of the top 25 countries in the world for gender equality by the year 2021 through women’s empowermen­t initiative­s and we are doing our bit to contribute to this vision through our nursery chain,” said Vandana Gandhi.

“Over 95 per cent of our workforce comprises women and we undertake a number of initiative­s to support their growth. Through our employee wellness policies designed to help all employees but especially women we provide a number of benefits,” added Vandana.
