- Staff Reporter

abu dhabi — A young German artist who specialises in Formula 1 car paintings will showcase his talent live during the upcoming event in Abu Dhabi.

Armin Flossdorf ’s work has been synonymous with Grand Prix since he first started painting cars.

But recently, his career took an unexpected turn when the chief executive of Formula One Group, Bernie Ecclestone, bought a painting that Flossdorf had made of him together with the late F1 legend Ayrton Senna.

He will display his display his latest works, mainly acrylic and pigments and oil-pastels, at Abu Dhabi’s Le Meridien Hotel during the Formula 1 race event.

Flossdorf’s also holds action painting sessions in front of the public, creating a colourful painting of a legendary grand prix car or an important moment in the sport’s history, in just a few hours.

After the speedy session, the painting takes a few days to be finished and readied for exhibition.

Flossdorf said the initial image is unclear to him as it is for spectators, adding: “The finished work is always different from the image I have before I start with my painting.”

Armin went to Arts School in Aachen, Germany, and then to the Royal College of Arts in London to pursue his passion for painting. Back in Aachen, he worked as a lecturer in Fine Arts at his alma mater.
