ajman — To celebrate the UAE’s 45th National Day, the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has launched a time capsule inviting the public to be part of the UAE’s history by submitting videos, writings and images.

The capsule will be showcased at Safiya Park Walk, in Masfout and at the Flag Park. It will be transferred to the Ajman Museum on December 3 to be placed underground for five years, to be opened in 2021 to coincide with the UAE Federation’s golden jubilee celebrations.

Faisal Al Nuaimi, ATDD’s general manager, said: “The time capsule is a chance to look further at the future and monitor the development and modernisation movement. It also provides a chance to deliver it to people after a period to compare the difference in social life.”

Saud Abdul Aziz Al Jasmi, head of Time Capsule Events Section, said: “We have brought the idea of the time capsule out of a desire to provide an opportunity for the community to participate and be part of the emirate’s historical legacy. The capsule and its belongings after five years will showcase the vision of every ambitious person who has contributed to it.”

The# See_ you_ in _5_ years hash tag has been chosen to reflect the content and the idea of time capsule.

Those who wish to participate can send videos or share pictures with the account of the Tourism Development Department on Instagram (@AjmanTDD) or go in person to the event sites at the Safiya Park and Corniche Ajman.

The time capsule is a chance to look farther at the future and monitor the development and modernisation movement, and thus a chance to deliver it to people after a period to compare the difference in social life.” — Faisal Al Nuaimi, ATDD general manager
