Trade fair for consumer goods opens

dubai — Shaikh Hasher bin Juma Al Maktoum, director-general of the Dubai Department of Informatio­n, inaugurate­d the 31st Internatio­nal Autumn Trade Fair (IATF 2016) on Wednesday. The event will continue until December 16 (Friday) at the Dubai Internatio­nal Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“The Internatio­nal Autumn Trade Fair is an exhibition of consumer goods and appliances. The 31st edition comes at a time when the UAE’s non-oil trade reached Dh553.4 billion during the first half of 2016,” said Satish Khanna, general manager, Al Fajer Informatio­n and Services, the event organiser.

He added: “The UAE is considered a business hub of the Gulf countries, Iran, South Asia and East Africa. Specialise­d trade fairs such as this one help to promote foreign trade growth.”

“The surge in trade of industrial products has helped attract more than 250 exhibitors from over the world. Visitors are viewing latest commercial products from sectors such as consumer goods and fashion, electronic­s and handicraft­s,” said Rupashree Singh, exhibition manager.

The IATF 2016 specialise­s in products such as art, antiques and handicraft­s, artificial flowers and plants, auto parts, bags, building materials, carpets and wall coverings, cosmetics, perfumes, crystal products, electrical devices and electronic, fashion, jewellery products, food, among others.
