119 entries for Haya special education award
dubai — Princess Haya Award for Special Education (PHASE) has announced that a total of 119 nominations have been received this year from various special education centres in the UAE and other countries for its sixth cycle.
The award executive committee declared that there are 97 applications submitted by institutions within the UAE, while the number of nominations from outside the country reached 22 — from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Palestine, Jordan, India, Pakistan and Switzerland.
Dr Ibtisam Al Bastaki, head of the jury of the award, said: “The jury panel started the process of evaluation and arbitration of the received applications which varied in four main categories: Specialist Excellence, Corporate Social Responsibility, Family Excellence and Institutional Excellence.
“The categories include nominations of therapists, educators, administration and finance units, special needs centres, research projects, campaigns, sponsors, board members and volunteers.”
The category of outstanding special educator received 19 applications, while the number of nominations for the rest of the Specialist Excellence categories reached 25 applications.
The Institutional Excellence category received 51 applications while the number of nominations submitted in the category of the Outstanding Family was nine while 10 nominations were received for the category of Corporate Social Responsibility. The category of outstanding volunteer received five applications.
