Guard molests teen on building terrace

- Marie Nammour

dubai — A guard, who allegedly sexually harassed a teen resident on the terrace of a building, was charged with molestation on Tuesday.

The Court of First Instance heard that the 35-year-old Bangladeshi guard spotted the 16-year-old Filipino girl while she was alone in the place. He allegedly seized the opportunity to sexually harass her by touching and groping her against her will.

The girl, a student, said she went to the rooftop when she was done with her workout in the gym. The guard asked me what I was doing there and when I was about to leave he blocked my way.”

She claimed to the prosecutor that the guard groped and touched her which made her scared. She rushed to the lift as she was aware there was a camera there.

Shortly later at home, her father said he noticed a change in her behaviour. He filed a complaint against the guard after she told him about what he did to her.

The girl’s father, 42, said his daughter went to the terrace in the building, where they stayed in Al Rafaa, to get some fresh air when the incident happened on December 9, 2016.

The accused admitted during the public prosecution investigation that he extended his hand while the girl was passing by him and claimed he only touched her shoulder.

The court will issue a ruling on April 4. mary@khaleejtimes.com
