dubai — The hard tasks force at Dubai Police battled a tough mission on Saturday, retrieving the body of a technician who died while trying to separate two cranes that had intertwined at the height of 15 floors above ground, during the weekend’s storm.

The Hard Missions team of Dubai Police managed to prevent the cranes from falling over and recovered the body after a skillful operation.

Major Khalid Ibrahim Al Hammadi, head of the Hard Missions team in at the general department of transport and rescue, said the deceased technician had returned to work on Saturday to find that the two cranes had moved from their positions during the previous day’s storm and got stuck with each other.

When he tried to pry them apart, he was crushed between the cranes and died instantly.

When the police reached the site, their priority was to prevent further catastrophe, and the Hard Missions team went to work carefully, first securing the area to prevent other people from the dangerous situation. They then summoned specialist engineers and experts to assess the situation involving the cranes, gauge how to prise them apart and prevent the cranes falling from a height.

The rescue team and engineers created a plan to pull the cranes apart, bringing in two more larger cranes, attaching parts of the intertwined cranes to the new ones and separating them slowly, following which they were able to bring down the man’s body.
