Lufthansa Technik begins operations at Dubai South

dubai — The new facility of Lufthansa Technik Middle East (LTME) has started maintenanc­e, repair, and, overhaul (MRO) services at the Aviation District in Dubai South.

Ahmed Al Ansari, acting CEO of Dubai South, said: “We are happy to welcome Lufthansa Technik, a leading global player in the aerospace industry, as the first company to begin operations at the newly opened Aerospace Supply Chain. The unique, first-of-its kind facility is designed to offer companies, in the MRO and aerospace industry, a multi-advantage edge given our strategic location and the synergisti­c aviation ecosystem that we are building at Dubai South.”

Recently, the first component, a GE90 engine inlet cowl from Etihad Airways arrived for repair at the facility. As the first entrant in the newly opened Aerospace Supply Chain, LTME is set to leverage the advantages of being part of an integrated aviation ecosystem that Dubai South is creating. LTME also offers material and spares and engine wash services for commercial and VIP customers locally. Further evaluation of additional capabiliti­es is ongoing depending on other customer requiremen­ts. The current LTME site at Dubai Internatio­nal Airport will be kept operationa­l.

aerospace supply chain sphere. And the arrival of the GE90 inlet cowl from such a well-known customer, such as Etihad demonstrat­es that our decision to invest here has been right.”

He added: “I am sure, that our growing list of technical services, including our Airframe Related Component portfolio, AircraftOn-Ground support, landing gear and engine services and our local material support desk will also convince other customers to trust in our technical expertise.”
