Friend held after man’s drug overdose death

dubai — The Dubai Police have arrested a Bahraini youth after the death of his friend, a 22-year-old GCC national, due to drug overdose.

The 24-year-old man is being interrogat­ed by the Dubai Public Prosecutio­n on charges of drug abuse and not informing the death of his friend to the police.

According to police sources, the operations room of the Dubai Police received informatio­n that a man was found lying unconsciou­s in a parked car in Qusais Industrial Area. The police rushed to the site and found the car, but there was no one inside the car.

Later, it was found that the man was rushed to the hospital by ambulance as he was in a bad condition and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. During investigat­ion, the man was identified as A.M. and it was learnt that he was accompanie­d by a Bahraini national. The police traced the man, who confessed to abusing heroin with his friend. The forensic laboratory tests showed that the victim died due to drug overdose and heroin traces were found on his body.
