Coalition formed to fight cross-continental crime
abu dhabi — Seven countries met in the UAE capital announced on Sunday creation of an International Security Coalition to fight organised and cross-continental crime.
The meeting was held in the presence of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as well as other ministers of interior and representatives of six Arab and international countries.
The coalition, which will base its general secretariat headquarters in Abu Dhabi, includes the UK, Spain, Senegal, Bahrain, Morocco, and the two countries that founded the coalition, the UAE and France.
It aims to develop joint work to combat different forms of organised and cross-continental crimes, and create the means of protection, as well as strengthen the security and stability of member countries in their desire to maintain security and prosperity for their people.
During his opening speech, Lt-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed confirmed the UAE’s continuing efforts to face all types of crime, whether locally, regionally or internationally, and that according to the country’s wise leadership, security is a joint international responsibility. He added that all new security challenges require more international co-operation and proper preparations, and promoted the transformation of police work from being reactive to proactive, to prevent crimes

He further added that crime now targets the lives of the innocent and de-stabilises the security of countries, peoples and communities to slow their advancement. He also stated that the birth of a common understanding was witnessed today around the establishment of an international security coalition between friendly countries, which are connected by similar challenges, and embodied through their honest intentions to face these dangers.
“We are going forward, to be in a position of power and constant advancement over the powers of crime and evil, no matter how far we go. We will work together to widen this coalition and establish its foundations... as well as the cultural and national goals of each coalition member, so it can become an international security force that attracts all those who strive for more security and stability,” Sheikh Saif said.
The participants in the meeting then listened to a video speech from Bruno Le Roux, French Minister of Interior, about the coalition, its foundations and the reasoning behind its founding. — Wam
