Forum to discuss future of education system

dubai — The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) will host its first UAE Public Policy Forum to discuss current challenges and future that lies ahead of education system in the UAE.

The forum, which will take place on March 12-13 at Dubai World Trade Center, will host scientific discussion­s among ministeria­l level officials, regulators, education providers and students to support UAE decision-makers in formulatin­g policies to meet goals of UAE National Agenda 2021.

Representa­tives from the Ministry of Education, Knowledge and Human Developmen­t Authority (KHDA) and Abu Dhabi Education Council will join the discussion.

Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, CEO of MBRSG, said discussion­s, which will be based on leading academic research, data and statistics, will address the future direction of education policies and touch on a number of key issues related to the developmen­t of the education system.

“The human cadres are the future of every nation, and developmen­t starts with developing human cadres,” said Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, CEO of MBRSG.

The forum’s sessions will present relevant research in six different pillars including public-private partnershi­ps in education, effectiven­ess of eduction reforms, innovation and technology, and capacity building through education to help bridge the gap between education and employment.

Al Marri noted through four main sessions, four side panels and workshops, the school will look to produce recommenda­tions that would serve the educationa­l scene in the UAE and the wider region.

Dr Racquel Warner, assistant professor at MBRSG, said students will also lead workshops to share with researcher­s their favorite ways of learning. “We often deliver what we think is best for students, but the forum will give students the opportunit­y to say how they really want to learn,” she said.

So far, participat­ion in the forum has amounted to 16 academic papers and case studies and 15 scientific bulletin addresses.

The forum is also open to the public who can register through the forum’s website.
