Modus Operandi
The accused applied to one of the telecommunication companies to get a replacement of the complainant’s SIM card, submitted his passport copy. The connection to the complainant was disconnected and the messages from the bank started to come to the mobile phone used by the accused.
Once he started to get the onetime passwords being sent from the bank, the accused transferred money to some accounts in the US and Malaysia. However, once the complainant returned to the country, he came to know that his number stopped working and he applied for a replacement. Then he received a message regarding the withdrawal. So he instructed the bank to stop the transactions.
