Deadline for school registrati­on announced

abu dhabi — The registrati­on of new Emirati students in kindergart­ens and public schools for the school year 2017/2018 will continue until March 17, Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) announced on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the registrati­on period for non-Emirati students will be from March 19 to23.

Nearly 10,000 new pupils have already registered for enrollment in Abu Dhabi public schools for the next academic year.

Mohammad Salem Al Dhaheri, executive director of school operations, said: “In case seats are not available, students will be registered in other schools nearby their geographic­al areas with school transporta­tion provided.”

He commended parents who have started registerin­g their children via the online registrati­on service ‘Tasjeel’.

Al Dhaheri noted that the total number of students that have registered for the next school year since the beginning of registrati­on in February is 9,555, which included 4,00 in Abu Dhabi, 4,533 in Al Ain and 322 in Al Gharbiah. Moreover, a number of 502 students from private schools have registered in public schools.

Parents may register their children by visiting a school or register online using the student’s Emirates ID card via Adec’s website www.adec.ac.ae.
