sharjah — The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will develop the arterial University Road against Dh65 million.
Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of RTA Sharjah, said the authority had already assigned a contractor to carry out the project.
“The road extending from the square at the south eastern entrance of the Sharjah University City to the square on the road to Al Badeea Palace will be developed.”
The development work, which will begin by the end of March, is scheduled to end within 300 days. “The project, in line with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, will give a boost to the infrastructure development programmes.” The 5.7km two-way road, passing through the Tariam Emran Square and residential areas of Al Jarina, Al Noof, Al Qaraen and Houshi, will be entirely renovated. Recently, RTA Sharjah has inaugurated a new pathway, built at a cost of Dh7.4 million, close to the University City for jogging, walking and cycling.
