Clinics of Giving to offer free services to needy
dubai — The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHP) will soon start offering free medical consultations and a management plan to needy patients — both Emiratis and expats — from this month in 20 areas of specialisation.
The service will be provided to all age groups in the field of heart diseases, glands, diabetes, rheumatism, orthopaedic surgery, ENT, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, plastic surgery, general surgery, digestive system, gynaecology and obstetrics, urinary tract, paediatrics, ophthalmology, psychiatric
medicine and dentistry. The services will be offered for one year at the ministry-affiliated hospitals at the centres called “Clinics of Giving” from 5pm to 8pm every day.
A senior official from the ministry told Khaleej Times that the centres will open by mid-March and there will be an announcement on media and social media about it.
“The programme will provide a consultation and management plan for the patients,” said the official. The ministry’s announcement is linked to the vision of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who declared 2017 as the Year of Giving.
The “Clinics of Giving” is an initiative that is part of the Year of Giving and will boost the health of individuals and the society.
“The initiative consolidates the prestigious status of the UAE in the field of humanitarian giving,” said Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention.
Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Oulema, undersecretary at the ministry; Dr Yousouf Mohammed Al Sarkal, assistant undersecretary at the ministry for Hospitals Sector; as well as Dr Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, assistant undersecretary for Health Centres and Clinics shed light on the initiative.
“The clinics of giving will open at the ministry’s hospitals from 5pm to 8pm to provide the service to the public,” said Dr Kalthoom Al Balochi, director of Hospitals Management at the ministry. The services will be offered to the most needy patients and will work through a hotline in all the hospitals.
