Relations main source of happiness

DUBAI — Visitors strolled through different stands that served as reminders of basic elements of happiness through studies, research and fun activities.

The relationsh­ips stand raised people’s awareness between relationsh­ips and happiness through games and fun activities.

“We aimed to show people the connection between their relationsh­ips and happiness through filling missing letters of a word that refers to such meanings,” said Ali Ahli, CEO of the National Happiness and Positivity Programme.

Through the stand, Ahli said visitors were reminded that relationsh­ips are a main source of happiness through a long running Harvard study that showed that people who fostered and enjoyed close relationsh­ips with

Among students taking part of the Happiness Journey were GEMS Our Own Indian School students who formed their own Happiness Club at school. Wearing their custom-designed ‘happiness’ shirts, the students said their club organises initiative­s that promote happiness and positivity based on giving.

“We visited the elderly home where we performed and gave them flowers and gifts. Happiness is giving and the most valuable gift of all is giving your time to people,” said Archa Lekshman, a student. Another student, Tasneem Shaikh, said spreading happiness is a necessity to contribute to society.

“With whatever we face, we have to remind ourselves that it will get better. We should continue working towards making things better instead of focusing on negative matters,” added Tasneem Shaikh.
