Dubai policeman who braved the rains to control traffic honoured

dubai — A policeman, who braved heavy showers to control traffic at an intersecti­on in Jumeirah after the traffic signal stopped working, was honoured by the Dubai Police on Monday.

Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, praised the commitment shown by First Corporal Ramadan Hussein, whose video went viral on social media.

Colonel Jamal Al Bannai, acting Director-General of Traffic Department, was also present at the event. “Today, we honour First Corporal Ramadan Hussein, because of the keenness and dedication he has shown in performing his duty by organising traffic movements despite heavy rain,” said Major-General Al Marri. He said the efforts of the cop has given the Dubai Police a good reputation among the public.

Major-General Al Marri gave a certificat­e of thanks and appreciati­on to Ramadan Hussein in recognitio­n of his efforts and dedication in his work, stressing that the honour comes in the framework of motivating and encouragin­g the employees of the Dubai Police to do more and providing high-quality services to make society happy.

First Corporal Ramadan Hussein thanked the Dubai Police chief for this kind gesture. He said the appreciati­on of his work by the police chief has increased his faith and dedication to his work. “This honour is an incentive for me to put more effort and generosity in serving the public,” he added.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Abdulla Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency at the Dubai Police, has honoured a group of Dubai Municipali­ty employees in appreciati­on of their immediate response in removing waste and vehicles from the road after an accident.
