Mustafa to lead UAE cricketers

dubai — Emirates Cricket Board has announced that Rohan Mustafa will captain the team that will represent the UAE in the upcoming ICC World Cricket League (WCL) and ICC Interconti­nental Cup (ICup) games against Papua New Guinea.

With all games being hosted at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium, the first of two WCL ODI games will be played on Friday, with the second game on Sunday.

ICC’s 4-day ICup will commence on April 7 and conclude on April 10.

Waleed Bukhatir, Emirates Cricket Board Member and chief selector said: “The WCL and ICup games are of vital importance to our ranking and we have very strong belief that the team selected will post the required resounding victories over Papua New Guinea. We have seen very positive fitness and skill developmen­t from our core group of contracted players and continue to be encouraged by their commitment. Their commitment has definitely had a profound influence on the entire group and we look forward to seeing their combined efforts being rewarded.”

UAE’s series against Papua New Guinea continues with one bilateral ODI to be played on April 4, wrapping up through two T20Is on April 12 and April 14.
