Beit Al Khair now runs 19 endowed properties

dubai — Beit Al Khair Society, with the addition of a newly constructe­d building to its charity assets, is now running 19 ‘awqaf’ or endowments for the benefit of needy and vulnerable people across the country.

Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, executive manager of Beit Al Khair Society, on Monday told Khaleej Times that the seven-floor building has been built on a plot of land extending over 1,393 square meters.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has contribute­d the land to the Society for the benefit of indigent and low-income people.”

The property, located at the Warqa-2 area, already started operations from March this year. The building consists of 30 apartments across five floors, along with a spa and gym centre, a separate parking floor, and a ground floor, Al Awadhi explained. “The constructi­on costs of the entire building, amounting to Dh27 million, have all been co-shared by the public in the form of endowment contributi­ons.”

profitable basis, as advised by the Beit Al Khair board of directors.”

Thousands of poor and low-income families, widows, orphans, patients, students, special needs people, elders and many other eligible segments of the society have benefited from the endowments of the Society since its inception. “Beit Al Khair is aided by its endowments that constitute a major source of funds to spend on its various charity programmes and projects.”
