Over 200 triathletes, including who had recently returned from the Ironman African Championship in South Africa as well as those who qualified for the Kona – one of the toughest events on the Triathlon world circuit, took part in the event.

Triathletes competing in both routes swam in the Oceanic Hotel’s natural bay and embarked on a cycle through the rolling hills of Khor Fakkan, before transitioning in the Oceanic Hotel grounds for the final part of the triathlon. Athletes then ran through the stunning Khor Fakkan Corniche and back to the Oceanic Hotel before crossing the finish line.

We have seen a remarkable increase in athlete participation.” Likewise, Ian Phillips, acting chief executive officer for Sharjah National Hotels, noted: “We are honoured to be the host for Oceanic Triathlon for the second consecutive year.”
