RAS AL KHAIMAH — Several people flocked to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday afternoon to offer funeral prayers for UAE serviceman Hassan Abdullah Al Beshr, who was martyred while performing his national duty as part of the ongoing Saudi-led Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and many Sheikhs and senior officials joined the masses in offering the prayers. The martyr was laid to rest at Al Salehiya Cemetery in Ras Al Khaimah.

Abdullah Al Beshr, father of the martyr — a soldier himself — said he was honoured about his son’s sacrifice. “My son died with honour,” he said. “He was performing his national duty and sacrificed his soul and blood for his country.”

The distraught father expressed his readiness to continue “the sacred mission of my beloved son for the sake of my nation”. “We will never think twice when it comes to the safety, security and stability of our country.”

Hussain, elder brother of the martyr, said the martyr joined the UAE Armed Forces in 2010. The 27-year-old martyr was widely known for his courage, honesty and readiness to offer help to others, he added. “Though I miss him, I am proud of his martyrdom which is an honour for the entire family.”

Hussain added that his mother was proud of his brother’s sacrifice, too. “She is heartbroken at losing him, but is patient and feels honoured that he sacrificed his soul and blood defending his country.”

He said the martyr, who hailed from Al Dheit area, joined Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen two years ago. “His last trip to the UAE was three weeks ago.”

Ismael, the younger brother of the martyr, said: “He has honoured his entire family and we are ready to follow in his footsteps of bravery and honour for our dear country.”

My son died with honour. I am more than ready to continue the sacred mission of my beloved son for the sake of my nation.”
