Dh4 million donation to support research

abu dhabi — Sandooq Al Watan, a national initiative launched by prominent Emirati businessme­n to support research projects, has received Dh4 million in contributi­ons to help support its efforts to build a sustainabl­e knowledge economy.

Of the total received, Dh3 million was donated by Emirati businessma­n Sheikh Mohamed bin Sultan bin Srour Al Dhaheri, and the remaining Dh1 million was pledged by Essa bin Saeed bin Essa Al Khalili, member of the National Advisory Council.

Al Dhaheri said: “Sandooq Al Watan is the perfect representa­tion of the cohesion in UAE society and the efforts being exerted across the board to achieve more developmen­t and prosperity for the country and its people. To that end, the fund, and all of its supporters, seek to establish a competent national workforce capable of performing its duties, in addition to encouragin­g the business community to assume its social responsibi­lities and help propel the UAE to the fore across all sectors.”

Al Khalili said: “Supporting Sandooq Al Watan resonates with our commitment to play our part in the efforts to build a better future for the UAE, a future where the Emirates is a leader among nations and regarded as a global model for excellence. The fund plays a pivotal role in this endeavour by supporting research projects that seek to develop national capacities in keeping with the directives of our leaders, who have called for investing in people and empowering them to become the leaders of the future.”
