Madinat Jumeirah islands project to elevate family tourism and support Dubai’s diversific­ation journey

dubai — A Dh6.3 billion mega project will see the shores of Dubai near the Burj Al Arab transform with two new islands by the end of 2020, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced on Sunday.

The Marsa Al Arab project will add 2.2km of beachfront to Dubai’s Jumeirah, spread across four million square feet. One island will be fully dedicated to entertainm­ent and family tourism, while the second will be an exclusive family resort.

“The launch of this new and ambitious project is in line with the directives of the visionary leadership to provide the finest and rewarding tourist experience­s for visitors to Dubai,” said Abdulla Al Habbai, chairman of Dubai Holding.

Among the features of the project will be 140 luxury villas on a private island and 300 seafront residentia­l apartments.

dubai — Come June 2017, a brand new mega project will break ground in Dubai and will see the coming up of two new islands on both sides of the iconic Burj Al Arab by late 2020.

Dubbed, ‘Marsa Al Arab’, the new tourist destinatio­n will be music to any water baby’s ears as it is set to add 2.2km of beach frontage to the popular Jumeirah area of the city.

The much-anticipate­d project launch was announced on Sunday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Spending a total of Dh6.3 billion, the new tourist destinatio­n will be built across four million square feet with one island dedicated to entertainm­ent and family tourism, while the other will comprise of an exclusive luxury resort.

With an aim to elevate the family tourism propositio­n in Dubai; the new destinatio­n will provide supporting foundation­s to host Expo 2020 Dubai, as well as reinforce Jumeirah Group’s leading position locally and globally.

What the project will also do is boost job creation and provide a range of opportunit­ies for UAE Nationals in the tourism and hospitalit­y sector.

Commenting on the project, Abdulla Al Habbai, chairman, Dubai Holding (the company managing the project) said: “The launch of this new and ambitious project is in line with the directives of the visionary leadership to provide the finest and rewarding tourist experience­s for visitors to Dubai.”

He said Dubai has achieved a “global reputation for unique offerings and unpreceden­ted achievemen­ts” and this was feasible through proper planning and accurate execution of such projects, complement­ed by in-depth knowledge of the local market’s needs and capabiliti­es.

“The project will support Emiratisat­ion in the tourism sector by providing new job opportunit­ies and encouragin­g Emiratis to commit their innovative and creative ideas to this vital sector.”

To boost the experience of the guests at the new resort, Wild Wadi Waterpark, will be relocated closer to the beach. The new location will increase the park’s size by more than twice its existing size. It will also add new thrills, family rides and record breaking attraction­s.

It will also house 140 luxury villas on a private island, which offer its residents complete privacy including a private marina and a helipad

Located on the left of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the luxury villas will be operated by Jumeirah Group. It will also offer 300 seafront residentia­l apartments in the heart of the developmen­t.
