sharjah — The Sharjah police have arrested a gang of three Africans who assaulted and attacked employees of a money transporting company to steal cash in the safe inside the vehicle.

The police said that the gang planned to steal the cash safe while the vehicle was departing a money exchange office in Al Nahda area in Sharjah. The gang attacked the employees of the company using knife and sticks, but they failed to steal the safe as it was heavy and well secured. The incident happened during the day time in front of large number of people, but the suspects managed to flee after the failed bid.

After the police received a call about the incident at the operation room, a team of officers arrived at the crime scene in less than five minutes. The employees of the company were rushed to the hospital as they suffered injuries while resisting the suspects. The criminal investigation department (CID) officials immediately launched a man hunt for the suspects based on the description provided by eyewitnesses.

A CID official said that although there was no specific information on the identity of the perpetrators or their location, the investigation team was able to identify one of the suspects and arrested him immediately. He confessed that he was involved

He pointed to the need to take extra care and caution by companies operating in this field, and urged to ensure the transfer of funds are carried out during the daytime.

He called on the public to assist the police by providing information regarding the crimes and perpetrators as soon as possible, in order to enable them to arrest the criminals.
