New paid parking zones in Sharjah from today

sharjah — The Sharjah Municipali­ty has introduced new paid parking zones in streets in Al Umm Al Tarafa area to ensure easy availabili­ty of parking spaces.

The municipali­ty announced that the parking fees will be imposed in areas including Abdul Rahman Abn Awf street, Khalil Mutran street and Street No 2, effective from today.

Officials at the municipali­ty’s public parking department said that paid parking machines have already been installed in the area for easy access. He added that the project will ensure parking space availabili­ty for residents, visitors and shoppers and minimise the misuse of parking lots near residentia­l and commercial areas.

Paid parking is deemed the only solution to these issues, which also affect residents who find it difficult to find parking spots near their homes. The project also has been implimente­d based on the requests of many residents and shops in the area.

The municipali­ty is also making parking fees payment easier, through SMS. Motorists can also apply for three-month, six-month or one-year parking stickers or cards that are available at the municipali­ty.— afkarali@khaleejtim­es.com
