Municipality instals water-saving devices
ajman — As part of the ‘Needof-the-hour’ initiative, the Ajman Municipality has installed 1,500 water-saving devices in schools and municipal premises across the emirate.
The municipality launched the plan in coordination with the Ajman Sewerage Private Company for the preservation of key water resources in the emirate.
Speaking about the initiative, Christophe Ledur, general manager of the company, said: “Water is a valuable resource and we aim to change the conscience of society to ensure environmental sustainability throughout the water cycle.”
An official at the Ajman Municipality said that the civic body is very keen to adopt conservation and recycling strategy to ensure sustainability. “Water is a scarce resource and we must find proper methods to save and recycle it. These devices will play a big role in reducing water wastage in the emirate. Such efforts will help lower the UAE’s high per capita water consumption,” he said.
The Ajman Sewerage earlier installed these devices at several properties and received results where up to 40 per cent of water conserved. Now, the firm aims at supporting the installation of these devices at public buildings such as mosques, schools, local authority premises and hotels.
