Twitter Forum to debate counter-terrorism plans
riyadh — US President Trump is all set to deliver a speech at the Tweeters Forum 2017, which will be held at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Riyadh on Sunday. The forum will discuss issues relating to effective use of social media for countering extremism and terrorism.
The US President will also take part in the opening of the world centre to “fight radical thought” at Al Nasiriyah palace. The centre aims to prevent the spread of the extremist and radical thoughts and promotes the positive dialogue.
UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be participating in the fifth edition of the Tweeters Forum.
The extraordinary edition of the forum will see the attendance Adel Al Jubair, Saudi Foreign Minister, along with a number of leaders, politicians, intellectuals and decision makers, who have influential presence on social media platforms. The forum shall discuss ways and means to protect young people from thoughts that stoke feelings of hatred.
Saudi Arabia is taking many other steps to counter the messages of Daesh and other militant groups online, a senior Saudi official said on Saturday.
Mohammed Al Issa, secretarygeneral of the Saudi-based Muslim World League, told reporters the kingdom will open a coordinating centre on Sunday in a ceremony attended by Trump and Saudi King Salman. The inaugural Riyadh Forum on Countering Extremism and Fighting Terrorism is also kicking off on Sunday.
