Duo jailed for robbery

ajman — The Ajman Criminal Court has sentenced two men to one year each in prison for breaking into a house, posing as police officers, and stealing Dh12,900.

The duo, a 38-year-old Asian and a 43-year-old Arab national, was also ordered to pay a fine of Dh15,000 and will be deported after their prison term.

The accused, accompanied by another runaway accomplice, are charged with theft, impersonation and damaging other’s property.

According to the investigation report, the accused broke into an Asian man’s house in Al Rashidiya area in Ajman at midnight. They told the victim and his wife that they were from the criminal investigation department and wanted to search the house. The police managed to arrest the suspects from a residential area in Ajman.
