Can’t afford to buy? Consider printing your furniture

- Rohma Sadaqat

dubai — Can’t find a curtain design that matches your furniture? Or floorboards that are the colour that you have your heart set on? Why not look at printing them instead, designers say.

HP is participating at this year’s Index exhibition in partnership with local designers to showcase its end-toend technology solution that allows customers to add their unique designs to 3D renders on HP’s Sprout Pro to see how their creation will look before printing on HP’s latex printers, which can then be easily applied to walls, floors, furniture and any appliance.

The possibilities of this technology are endless, says Manal Bassay, founder of Fiore Nero Interiors.

“Many of the restrictions that have limited designers will now become almost obsolete with this technology,” she told Khaleej times.

“You can print almost anything with the guarantee that it will look as good printed, as it did on your computer screen. Even the colours come out as vibrant as they are on your screen.”

Listing some of the possible applications, she said that the technology could be used to print designs not just for walls and floors, but on fabrics for furniture as well.

“Printed designs for homes will also significantly cut back on costs that are normally associated with decorating and furnishing your home,” she added.

Manal Bassay,

Ernest Azzam, regional business manager, Large Format Printing Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa at HP, said designers and architects are looking for innovative, environmentally friendly and safe ways to create, think big and offer clients a new personalised service, which is now available through digital printing.

“Our latex technology allows any colour, pattern, photos to be printed and applied as décor or wall covering, which we have already sold to companies in the UAE, where interior design spending is up to Dh300 million.”
