Goalkeeper Adler quits Hamburg

Former Germany goalkeeper Rene Adler announced Monday he will not be renewing his Hamburg contract, which expires next month, after helping avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.

“I have just told Hamburg’s officials that I will not extend my contract beyond June 30,” the 32-year-old Adler wrote on his Facebook page having joined from Bayer Leverkusen in 2012. “Unfortunately, I will not have a sixth year for this special club with it’s unique fans.”
