Ex-champion Hayden dies

American motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden died, the Maurizio Bufalini Hospital announced, five days after he was hit by a car while training on his cycle. Hayden was 35.

Last week, the hospital announced that Hayden had severe cerebral damage. “The medical team has verified the death of Hayden, who has been undergoing care since May 17,” the statement said.
