Snowhite becomes wheelchair friendly
dubai — Snowhite, the largest men’s wear showroom chain in the Gulf, has taken their social responsibility to a higher level by creating wheelchair ramps in all of its showrooms.
Announcing this in a press release Hiroo D. Vassanani, managing director, Snowhite, said the initiative is in accordance with the company policy of reaching out to those who find it difficult to enter their showroom due to lack of wheelchair access.
“We are happy to be a part of this social project started by Ms Shobhika Kalra, whose initiative ‘Wings of Angelz’ aims to create awareness about the need to make more places accessible for people in wheelchairs. We have already received a positive feedback and we have observed that after the installation the number of wheelchair-bound shoppers have increased,” he added.
According to Shobhika many people do not understand the difficulties that wheelchair bound people face. Lack of awareness is one of the major reasons why many places are not wheelchair accessible.
“My initiative is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai disabled-friendly by 2020. Through a team of around 150 volunteers, we have successfully managed to make over 700 places wheelchair accessible. I am extremely thankful to the Snowhite management for supporting my initiative,” she added.
Handing over a certificate of appreciation to Abdel Saheb, chairman, Snowhite, in the presence of Bala, Shobhika Kalra, expressed her hope that all future Snowhite showrooms will come with ramps.
