Embrator, Jawarih book semis berth
sharjah — Al Embrator and Al Jawarih have entered the semifinals of the Sharjah Ramadan Football Championship (SRFC), following two very contrasting contests held at the Sharjah Sports Club Stadium, on Thursday night.
Al Embrator secured an emphatic 8-1 win over Extra. The battle between Al Jawarih and Al Amend, on the other hand, was more closely fought with a one goal difference between Al Jawarih scoring 3 against their opponent’s 2 goals.
They will be joined by defending champions Royal and Al Watania in the last four stage.
On Saturday, Al Watania will face Al Embrator and Al Jawarih will play against last year’s SRFC defending champions Royal.
With last night’s 8-1 victory, Al Embrator reinforced why they are being considered this year’s tournament favourites. In what can be safely called a onesided contest, the team powered through with high confidence and agility, defeating team Extra by a huge margin, and inching another step closer towards hoisting the Al Embrator flag next to the championship trophy this year.
The second quarterfinal contest yesterday was a contrast in comparison. A hard fought, neckto-neck battle between Al Jawarih and Al Ameed, the match that was tilting in favour of the later team, was snatched away by Al Jawarih during extra time.
