Big blaze in industrial area of Sharjah, no casualties
sharjah — A massive fire broke out early on Wednesday in Al Sajaa industrial area in Sharjah. The blaze, which erupted in a wood and waste dumping area, spread to a diesel warehouse nearby.
No causalty was reported in the incident.
Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, director general of the Sharjah Civil Defence, said that the fire erupted in the early hours. Firefighters from all fire stations in the emirate, additionally aided by the Ajman Civil Defence, reached the spot in five minutes after getting the call and worked hard to control the fire from spreading to other diesel warehouses in the area.
The fire started at 2.30am was put out completely by 9am. Due to flammable material in the dump and the wind, flames fanned out quickly, but were controlled before they could wreak more damage.
After cooling operations are completed, the site will be handed over to the police for determining the cause of fire.
