Traffic changes around Ibn Battuta Street under Route 2020 project

- Staff Reporter

dubai — The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced several changes in the traffic flow along roads and streets linked with the Route 2020 Project.

The changes include traffic diversions passing through residential and commercial complexes, particularly the Ibn Battuta Street which is connected to Discovery Gardens, The Gardens, Al Furjan and other districts developed by Nakheel Properties. The traffic diversions have resulted in reducing the number of lanes from three to two in each direction along Ibn Battuta Street between Street 2 and Street 6.

The changes also include widening Street 1A parallel to Ibn Battuta Street such that it will be a dual carriageway of two lanes in each direction instead of a street of a single-lane in each direction; which will enhance the traffic flow. Works will start in August this year and will continue until the project completion.

Other affected areas include closing the entrance in the di- rection of Street 1A from Streets 2, 2A and 4, where water and electricity line extensions are protected. The Ibn Battuta area had previously been closed from Street 11 to Street 13, and a temporary UTurn had been made at Street 11. Construction works started last March and will continue until the end of the project.

The RTA has reminded motorists to abide by the traffic and directional signs guiding to the traffic diversions in place.
