UAE helps treat 900,000 Egyptians
cairo — As part of the Zayed Giving Initiative, nearly one million children and elderly have received free medical treatment in Egypt.
More than 55 medical caravans were put in service to treat 900,000 children and elderly people across the Egyptian villages, bringing the total beneficiaries to over six million globally.
The fully equipped mobile hospitals, which were supervised by a joint UAE-Egyptian medical volunteer team, functioned in line with the directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving.
The Dar Al Ber Association, Saudi-German Hospital, the Sharjah Charity House, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and the Emirates Volunteer Centre also joined the Zayed Giving Initiative.
Since its inception in 2003, the Zayed Giving Initiative has made valuable contributions to various areas of community services and volunteering including health, education, environment and culture.
The initiative works in line with the guiding principles laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE, and pursued by Sheikh Khalifa, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, VicePresident and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.— Wam
